A tear in the TPE skin

As I was taking off the slippers and socks from Alice's feet, I noticed that her toe was damaged. It must have been bent somehow, inside the sock/slipper. It looks really bad.

When this happens, and it will, there's no reason to freak out. It may not happen to your doll's toe, but somewhere on their body, they will get a tear sooner or later. TPE material does not last forever. Everyone who owns a TPE doll should have a bottle of TPE glue - this can be bought from most vendors or manufacturers of these dolls. When you order your first doll, you should ask your vendor for a bottle of this, just to be prepared.

You need a bottle of TPE glue, some rubbing alcohol, a q-tip, a toothpick and some toilette paper or other.

First you clean the area inside and around the tear, using the q-tip soaked in rubbing alcohol. This is just to get rid of germs, lint or whatever else may have ended up in the tear. Then you dip the toothpick in the TPE glue and apply it inside the tear - be very careful not to get any of it outside of the tear. Remember, TPE glue is basically acid for TPE material. The instant you apply the glue, you press the skin together so that it goes back to it's natural position. Use some toilette paper to wipe around the area, to get rid of any residues that ended up outside of the tear. The glue melts the material, so that it merges together with itself again. You have got to hold it together for 10 minutes or so, until it is solid.

I could have made a video about this, but I will just explain it in text and images instead. There are already a bunch of Youtube videos on how to use the glue.

This is the result, it's quick and easy to do.

The toes are still a bit bent, but that will hopefully adjust itself over time. The important thing is, the tear is gone.

If you get a small tear, try to fix it as soon as possible - otherwise it might grow bigger over time, which would make it more difficult to repair without leaving any marks. Even if the toe had fallen off completely, as heartbreaking as it would be, it could still be glued back together with the TPE glue. Though it would probably be more visible afterwards. The tear in her toe is no longer visible. It looked a lot worse than it actually was. I will be more careful from now on, when I put on her socks and slippers, to make sure her toes will never get bent like that again.
