Introduction
So you are thinking about buying a TPE sex doll for yourself? That's great. There are a couple of things you should know and think about before doing this. I suggest that you read through this entire guide before you place your order. I know that it's a lot to read, but you don't have to read it all at once. Read one section per day or so. In any way, this is all useful information. Reading this will be worth your time. And you do want to be well prepared when you are about to spend a large amount of money, right? Learning from your own mistakes is expensive, it's a lot cheaper to learn from someone else's mistakes. This is the guide I wish that I had read before I purchased my own first doll.
NOTE: The advices given on skin treatments in this guide, are specifically made for TPE dolls of brands WM, YL, OR and IronTech. The first three are some of the most common TPE brands today. Other doll brands may use different formulas for their TPE material and therefore require different treatment methods. If you are not sure about the brand of the doll you want to buy, or if there is something you don't fully understand, you can ask me directly. Click on "Contact" in the menu and fill in the contact form along with your questions.
Consider this before buying
Standing feet.
Choosing the "Standing foot option" for your doll is something I strongly recommend to everyone, unless you have a serious foot fetish. If she is able to stand up, it will be easier to dress her, shower her, take photos of her and so on. Even if you intend to have her only for sex, you may want to store her in your closet or something. Having her stand up in your closet may save you some space. You should think about how you are going to store her before you buy her. Will you keep her in your bed at all time? Ok. What if you have company coming over and you don't want anyone to see her? Planning these things in advance, will save you some trouble along the way.
Weight.
Think about the weight before you buy your doll. Lifting a human that weighs 50 kilo is easy, lifting a doll which weighs 30 kilo is a lot more difficult. This is due to the "dead weight". When you are holding a human, that person is going to help out with their body so that you can easily and comfortably carry them. A doll will not do this at all. It takes a while to get used to lifting and carrying a doll around. You will find the correct technique with practice, but you will be shocked over how heavy your doll is at first. Many new doll owners end up regretting their purchase and sell their doll within the first week, simply because they can not handle the dead weight. Do not make this mistake. You can try this by lifting a large sack of potatoes or something, just to get an idea - although a doll will be bigger in size, so the weight is more spread out.
Cost.
Think about the price of the doll before you order one. If you don't have a lot of money and you are not sure if dolls are for you - you can go for the cheapest one. But if you are certain that you are the type of person who would enjoy having a doll and money is not a big problem for you - I would advice you to buy the one you actually desire the most. Why? Because you are going to look at her every day for years to come. Isn't it worth it to put down that extra few hundred dollars to get the absolute sexiest doll, when you think about it? If you buy one of the less attractive ones, simply because you didn't want to spend all that much money, then you may end up regretting it. Many new doll owners are surprised over how much they like having a doll. Myself included. It is easily worth the money, in my opinion.
Delivery.
When your doll is delivered, you must be home to sign for the package. Your neighbours might see you receiving such a large package and ask what it is. Unless you want to tell everyone that you just purchased a 2000 dollar sex doll, you may want to have a lie prepared. You can call your shipping company and ask them to hold your package for you, so that you can pick it up whenever it suits you. This way you may not have to take a day off from work. However, your package may not be able to fit into your car. Make sure you measure your back seat or wherever you are planning on putting the box - also, ask your doll vendor for the exact measurements of the box. A heavy doll in a package, is quite difficult to carry by yourself and you do not want to drop it.
Silicone + TPE = Big no no.
If you have sex dolls made from silicone material already and you want to try out a TPE doll, you better make sure that you keep them separated from each other. TPE material should never come in contact with silicone material, period. If these materials meet, a chemical reaction may occur which destroys the silicone. Think about this if you ever buy some sort of accessories for your TPE doll as well - Nothing made of silicone material.
TPE glue.
If you cause a small skin tear on your TPE doll, you can order TPE glue from any doll vendor. Be very careful when you use this, since this is basically like acid for TPE material. If not used correctly, you could end up creating an even bigger mess than before. Check out instructional videos on how to use the glue (ask your doll vendor about this) before you attempt to use this yourself.
Final touch.
That little extra that makes your doll officially perfect. On some vendor's websites, all available options may not always be presented. Such as adding color to the nipples and vagina to make them look more realistic. You can read more about it in my article before you place your order.

Preparations
When you have purchased your first TPE doll, you will feel restless and start climbing on the walls since you are looking forward so much to having your doll delivered. What you can do during this time, in order to make time go by faster, is to make preparations for her arrival. So here is a list of suggested items you may want to get, to make your doll experience as good as possible. It is always good to be prepared!
-
Hair brush.
-
Extra wigs.
-
Wig stands for your surplus wigs. The wigs will look better if they are stored on wig stands instead of just keeping them lying in a drawer somewhere.
-
Hair tie or hairpins, if you want to make a sexy hairstyle for your doll.
-
Clothes, just make sure you buy the correct sizes. You can find most of the measurements of our dolls in their respective pages. If you are not sure, you can always wait until you receive your doll before you start buying clothes. (read more about that under Clothing).
-
Measuring tape, if you don’t already own one. All the measurements you may want or need, might not be included in the measurements provided by the manufacturer. This will make it easier for you when you buy clothes. For example, if you buy pants, you may want to know exactly how long her legs are first.
-
Shoes, if you want that for your doll. The length of your doll’s feet should be displayed in the respective page of said doll. If you are not sure about the shoe sizes, you can always ask us.
-
Makeup. You can use powder based makeup on your doll to make her look even more attractive. You may want to give her your own unique style. But you don’t need to do this if you don’t want to, since the dolls come with makeup already put on. But you may want to change her lipstick every now and then.
-
Makeup brush.
-
Water based lubricant. It is important that you use this when you are making love to your doll.
-
Perfume. If you want your doll to smell as good as a real woman, then you can apply perfume to her wig. Avoid getting it directly on the skin of your doll, since the alcohol in the perfume could harm her skin.
-
Jewelry. A nice necklace perhaps. You may want to wait before you buy her rings, to make sure you can measure her finger’s circumference first.
-
Baby oil. Look for the words "paraffinum liquidum" on the label, this should be one of the ingredients of your baby oil. For skin treatments (read more about that under Skin treatments).
-
Vaseline. For skin treatments (read more about that under Skin treatments).
-
Baby powder. To make her skin extra smooth and non-sticky. Cornstarch works too. (Read more about that under Skin treatments).
Showering
When your doll arrives, you should give her a shower to get some of that new TPE smell off of her. When you shower your doll, make sure she is standing or sitting on a soft surface. Never place her directly on your shower/bathtub floor. The pink blanket which you will receive along with your doll, is perfect for this. Fold it a couple of times and put it on your shower/bathtub floor. Rest your doll’s feet on the blanket if she is going to stand up (only do this if you have the standing foot option). Or rest her bottom on the blanket if you intend to have her sitting down.
When you shower her, use medium temperature water. Never hot water, since TPE skin is not resistant to excessive heat. Do not spray water over her head. Avoid getting water in her neck area, since water can end up inside of your doll, cause damage and make her skeleton rust. One thing you can do is remove her head before you shower her. Just unscrew it and let it rest on your bed or another soft surface. Then you wrap plastic foil around your doll’s neck, to avoid getting any water inside. When she is all wet, you can use your hands to soap her up with regular unscented soap. You can use a sponge, but I do not recommend it. If you do use a sponge, make sure it is very soft so that it does not scrape her skin. Make sure to soap up her vaginal and anal cavities with water as well. Then rinse off her body and flush out the vaginal and anal canals. Dry her off carefully with a soft towel. Do not use excessive force since that could scrape her skin. Dry her as soon as possible. She should not be wet for any longer than she needs to be.
Place a white sheet on your bed before you lift your doll out of the shower/bathtub. Then place her on it. Check her body to see that she is no longer wet anywhere. The most important areas to dry, is her vaginal and anal canals. It is difficult to reach inside with a bath towel. So instead, use kitchen paper towels. Roll up a piece to make an oblong object, insert this into her vagina and anus to soak up the moisture. Take it out and put in another one in each hole. Repeat this until there is no longer and moisture left. You can then put in another one in each hole and leave it there for an hour or so, just to be sure she will be completely dry. Never leave your doll with a wet vaginal or anal canal, since this can lead to mold.
While she is resting on your bed, you can clean her head in the sink. Try not to get any water in her neck, since it can end up under her skin. Washing her face is optional, because if you use soap and water on her face, you will most likely wash off her factory makeup. You can always apply new makeup yourself. Use powder based makeup. Water based makeup sinks into her skin and is more difficult to get off. But it can be done with makeup remover. If you do was her face, use the same method as for her body, unscented soap and water, use your hands only. If you wash the insides of her mouth, you can dry it out by inserting kitchen paper towels, just like you did for her other cavities.
I recommend that you shower your doll once per month.

Skin treatments
Baby oil.
When your doll is dry after her shower, it is time to apply baby oil. This is used to nurture the TPE material, it is good for her. Massage it in all over her body. Make sure she’s lying on top of that white sheet I mentioned in the previous section, so that you won’t get oil all over your bedspreads. Let the baby oil sink in to her skin for a few hours at least. When she is no longer extra sticky, you know it’s all dried in.
Vaseline.
Rub some vaseline on her most stressed areas. Such as armpits, elbows, on and around vaginal and anal cavities, inner thighs, all around and in between her breasts as well as in her butt crack. Let it dry in over night. It takes many hours before it is completely dried in.
Baby powder or cornstarch.
When she is dried from the vaseline, it is time for the final touch. TPE skin is naturally sticky and will attract lint and wig hair. To avoid this, use baby powder all over her body. Rub it in and you will immediately feel a huge difference. You can also use a makeup brush to apply the powder. She becomes very smooth and nice to touch. She will basically feel like a completely different doll. Cornstarch can also be used instead of baby powder. Powdering is strongly recommended for all TPE dolls.
I recommend that you use baby oil, vaseline and baby powder, in that order, after giving her a shower. Do this skin treatment once per month only. If you shower your doll twice per month, then only apply baby powder after her second shower. The baby oil and vaseline should never be applied more than once per month. But baby powder you can put on her as much as you see fit. You can't really overdo powdering.
After sex cleaning
After you have had sexual intercourse with your doll, whether it be vaginal, anal or oral, you need to clean out the cavity. There are many ways of doing this. But I will not list them all, since it would just be too much reading. Along with your doll, you should have received a water bottle. Fill this water bottle with water, it is up to you if you mix in a bit of soap in there as well. Put a towel underneath your doll, spread her legs and stick the water bottle inside the cavity you are about to clean. Hold part of the towel around the part of the water bottle which is sticking out of her. Now push on the bottle. Water is going to squirt out of her. If you don’t use the towels, you will make a mess everywhere. If you have mixed soap into the water bottle, you should refill the bottle with only water, to flush out any soap residues. Flush as many times as you see fit.
Now it’s time to get the water out of there and dry her cavity. Lean your doll forward and let gravity push out most of that water. You can gently push down on her stomach with your hand, to push the water out. Then you can use kitchen paper towels to soak up all the moisture. Make sure you get it all out. Now, you can do one of two things.
A) Leave a dry piece of rolled up kitchen paper towels inside of her cavity for a few hours to soak in any leftover moisture. Keep her legs spread.
B) Place a fan in front of your doll, with her legs still spread wide open. Turn on the fan and air dry her for a while.
It is very important that you never ever leave your doll with a wet cavity, because that can lead to mold which is very disgusting and difficult to get rid of.
You can also do this the lazy way, see my step by step picture guide here.
Clothing
When you buy clothes for your doll and want to play it safe, you should avoid very dark colors, since they can easily stain your doll’s skin. The stains usually go away by themselves over time, but they are still not that desirable. Avoid clothes made from leather material, since this material is known to stain. Don’t put your doll in extremely tight clothes for a longer period, or you may end up with creases in her skin. These may go away over time as well, but if they are really bad ones, then they may not go away at all.
One thing you could do is dress your doll in an all white or skin colored body stocking, then put other clothes over it. That will create a barrier between her skin and her clothes. This will help protect her a bit from stains, but this does not mean that she is completely shielded from stains. There have been some cases where people have had stains right through body stockings and into the TPE skin, without staining the body stocking at all. So be careful with the clothes you buy, avoid black clothes as much as possible. If you do buy black clothes, then at least don't keep them on your doll for a long period of time.
If you are going to buy a lot of clothes for your doll, you may want to invest in a TPE test piece. These can be purchased from any vendor of TPE dolls. The test piece will help you figure out whether or not the clothes you have bought, are going to stain your doll. The test piece is a flat square of TPE material. Place it on your table or other flat surface. Place your cloth item on top of it, then stack a couple of books or something on top of it to create some pressure. Leave it over night, 8-12 hours. Then remove the books and see if the clothes have stained the test piece. If the test piece is stained, then your doll probably will be as well. In that case, wash the clothes a couple of more times before you test them again. When you have done this test and the clothes no longer stain the TPE test piece, they will most likely not stain your doll either, so they are safe to use.
Always wash new clothes at least once, or even several times, before you use them on your doll. Best thing to do is to always use the TPE test piece. If you buy only regular white clothes made from common fabrics, then a test piece is probably not required.
Dressing
No, not the hamburger topping, but putting the clothes onto your doll. When you do this, there are a few things to think about.
-
Be gentle and patient. Do not get rough because the clothes are a bit tight and difficult to put on. You may end up damaging her skin.
-
Having your doll powdered will make dressing a lot easier and you are less likely to scratch her skin.
-
When putting on a sweater, try to avoid raising her arms straight above her head, since that puts an awful amount of stress in her armpit area and will cause tears over time.
-
Be careful with their fingers when you put on a sweater, since most TPE dolls have wires inside their fingers. The wires can break and detach from the rest of her hand. They will not fall off your doll, they will just become floppy and no longer be able to pose correctly.
-
Be careful when you put on socks, their toes are all floppy. Some of the larger dolls have wires inside the big toe, but the rest of the toes are flopping around. If you are not careful, this could happen to your doll's toes: Click here.
